What
were you in your life before you became a writer? Did this influence your
writing?
Hi Janet, first of
all, thanks so much for hosting me and our new anthology, A Darker Shade of Evil on your blog.
Great question. If
you’re talking career-wise, I was a paralegal in my prior life. I worked for
several large law firms, mostly in litigation, which was always exciting and
quite interesting.
In my personal life,
I’d say I was a genealogist. I began tracing my ancestors and compiling family
trees many years ago. I traced my mother’s line back to 1730, Athol, MA. They
were a fascinating bunch, lawyers, boat builders and even a surgeon or two in
the Civil War. One physician wrote a book about his experience in the field as
a surgeon, and while at times, a little gory, there were some intriguing
historical tales.

Are
you genre specific or general? Why? I don't mean genres like romance, mystery,
fantasy etc. There are many subgenres of the above.
I do not write genre specific. I guess after all these years
I still haven’t found ‘a safe place to land’ when it comes to my writing. I
write contemporary romance, historical romance, western romance, and an
occasional suspense/thriller. Almost all my books contain some slant of the
paranormal (ghosts) except for the contemporary – they are mostly
thriller/suspense.

Did
your reading choices have anything to do with your choice of a genre or
genres?
Like my
writing, I’m an eclectic reader. I read several genres: paranormal, of course,
urban fantasy, thriller/suspense. I seldom read contemporary romance like small
town unless it’s a thriller or suspense. I do not read cozy mysteries, but love
a good who dunnit murder mystery (the scarier, the better). I love historical
romance, particularly if it involves Native American beliefs, customs and
mythology.

What's
your latest release?
Thanks so much for asking! Nine authors have joined to bring
our readers A Darker Shade of Evil: A Demon & Devil Anthology. We have USA
Today and Bestselling authors in this boxed set, and some fantastic urban
fantasy/paranormal (contemporary stories).
My story included in this boxed set is I Spy A Demon. I really enjoyed writing the story of twins, Calder
and Cecily Sizemore. Their parents died when they were quite young and they
were taken in by a very unique, dangerous family: Gus and Mae Frost and their
two young sons, Marcel and Elliott. So, the four children grew up together in a
massive house filled with secrets--locked doors, whispered conversations and
extended trips out of town. Cecily and Marcel fall in love when they are no
more than youngsters themselves, and that love is turbulent, passionate and at
times, unforgiving. After a two-year absence, Cecily has returned home for her
beloved twin’s funeral and this time she’s not running away. She’ll find out
how her brother really died if it’s her last act in life.
5.
What
are you working on now?
A follow-up to I Spy A Demon, as yet untitled. I’ve really enjoyed researching
demons—how many different types, how they originated, how the constant battle
between good vs. evil has gone on for centuries. Lucifer and his minions have
wreaked havoc on the world ever since they fell from God’s grace. My dedication
in the opening of I Spy A Demon says: Dedicated
to all demon hunters whether real or a figment of their tormented minds.
