Tuesday's Writer's Tip Moment of Decision #MFRWAuthor #BWLAuthor #Decision

The black moment ends with the hero or heroine believing all is lost. Then something occurs. Does he or she accept that all is lost. In this moment, a decision must be made.

The character can decide to accept that what they desire will never happen. This brings the ending of the story to a bitter-sweet one. This must be satisfactory to the reader. That can be difficult but is possible to achieve.

The character may decide to continue fighting for what they first decided was their goal.  This ending may or may not be satisfactory.

The character may decide to change their goal and seek one that's not perfect but is one they can live with. This ending is usually satisfactory.

An ending of the story is one that is satisfactory for the reader. It does now have to be happy though in most romances it is a happy one. In mysteries the satisfactory ending shows the  main character finding justice. So the decision to reach those last few pages is one that's a decision flowing from the black moment.
