Green grass sprouts
Through brown earth
Fertility again

Meander 2  Book Signing Part Two - Yesterday the book signing at the Barking Goose went well. John had a number of guests arrive so there was an audience for the reading. There were sales and that was nice. For me the most interesting was I had a friend in the audience. She had once come to Hudson Valley for the Saturday meetings. I really liked that she had purchased a copy of Words Perfect years ago and that she uses it when writing. She has even underlined parts of the book. More than sales, this really raised my spirits. She also follows my blog. I really appreciate this. Also has someone say she was going to listen to the audio of Murder and Mint Tea. Also someone likes fantasy and hopefully will look up some of mine.

Meander 3 -- Writing. Am roughing in Chapter 4 of the Lines of Fire bit. Must let Jude know I'll have to write a new CAF. Part till be all right but the title different and the blurb also. This is the problem with writing a CAf months and months before the book is more than an idea..

Meander 1 Book Signing -- I'll be at the Barking Goose in Newburg, NY on Saturday July 20th from 1 - 5 PM signing books with several of my Hudson Valley RWA friends. Don't you just love the name of the venue. Reminds me of things I've read about people keeping geese as a first line of defense to guard their houses. Address: 16 N Plank Rd, Newburgh, NY 12550

Meander 3 - Writing. Forgotten Dreams sent off to the editor. Am now working on Lines of Fire Challenged. This is the second book of the Defender's Hall trilogy. It's going fairly well but this time I'm feeling as I go. The story is unfolding slowly but the hro and heroine Jens and Lasara promise to be interesting characters. Always enjoy watching a story unfold and the villain is from a prior book and this time the characters will get to see the final villain but not really interact with him. That will be for the third story.

Monday - 30 July Week Behind and Ahead

A fellow writer once said "If you sell one book at a signing, it's been a successful one." On Saturday I went with three friends to sign books at the Kingston Farmer's Market. We set up under a tent and had just had everything in order when the rain began. I hurriedly began packing my books since the thunder made me realize this wouldn't be a short rain. Boy was I right. Rained so hard the tent began to collapse. Fortunately in this lovely town the sidewalks are covered. As we were talking to people I mentioned to a woman about my YA stories. Her daughter was with her. The woman mentioned she only read books on line these days. Told her about my books on Kindle and Nook and opened the case pocket to find pens that show my blog and mention the books I've written. Pulled out a copy of my YA fantasy and showed her. She opened the book and handed it to her daughter. "There's only one word I don't know." The little girl then read the back and said she wanted the book. So I had a sale. The ride home was a torture with torrential downpours. I would gladly send all this rain to places where it's needed.

The above gives a clue about last week but I am progressing on the Plot draft of Lines of Fire. Am about a quarter of the way through that draft and am finding some of the things I thought I might have to change will remain. Others won't. Sent another email to one of my publishers about the mss I sent several weeks ago. Will wait and send again in several weeks.

This week I'll be working on Lines - Plot Draft and hope to be nearing the halfway point. This is the draft that takes the most time since one has to be sure all the ducks are in a row. The good thing is that I'm still able to keep from wanting to rush with the story.

7 May - Week ahead and week behind

The winner of an autographed copy of The Temple of Fyre is Sharon Baker who gave me no way to get in touch with her. I'll need an email address so I can send the copy to her.

Did a Nook Book signing at the Palisades Mall on Saturday and made an interesting contact what I'll tell the chapter about on Saturday. Also talked to the person arranging the signing about having us on a regular basis and bringing in some copies of our print books that could be kept aside for when we had a signing. Will see what happens here.

Last week I took a step I've been avoiding for a long time. Having a series with one publisher was something I thought was the right thing to do, but after a year of not hearing anything about the submission of the last book in a series, I decided to seek another publisher for it. I also asked for the rights back to other books that were out of contract. I really liked being with this publisher but I was tired of hearing promises and never receiving answers. Perhaps I should have done this before but I didn't. So now I'm in the process of preparing four books for re-release at a new publishers. Finished one last week and will do the others this week.

The Micro-manager Murder is coming along very well but will be the shortest of the mysteries in the series. But as usual there are some interesting twists and turns occurring. Some of my critique partners are worried about Katherine's actions but to me they are perfectly natural. After all she's been a widow for 30 years and has gone her own way for that long. Marriage isn't going ot change her nature.

Hope to finish another draft this week and then there will be just 2 to go and I can write the end. Love writing the end since I have another story waiting in the wings. Lines of Fire is a fantasy and perhaps the start of a series. Then there's the final of the alternate Egypt stories to write, the final in the Seduction series and a final Katherine story, plus a number of other stories rolling in my head. Getting ideas has never been my problem, it's the writing of them that takes the time.
