I am thrilled to be visiting and have the chance to introduce
myself and my stories. Let’s dive right in.
1. What were you before you became an author? Did this influence
your choices as a writer?
Since my books still do not make enough money to support me, I
still have my day job. While I have held
many titles throughout my career, my work has always focused on making places
better, predominantly in non-profit settings. This type of work has usually
included economic development, education, and community engagement – sometimes
together, sometimes separately. My day job has not influenced my choices as a
writer directly, although it has allowed me to write characters with less
familiar jobs such as Chamber of Commerce President, Mayor, and University
Professor since I have rubbed elbows with all of them in past jobs.
2. Are you genre specific or general? I don’t mean major genres
but subdivisions or romance, mystery or paranormal.
I am genre specific, writing mostly science fiction and paranormal
romance. I have done one modern romance,
but I enjoy world build so much, I definitely lean toward genres where I get to
make up the rules for living and life.
3. What is your latest release?
My latest release is The Scent of Memory, Green Rising Book 2. As
is common in science fiction, there are several corrupt intergalactic
government-corporate alliances, and a rebellion brewing, which is what Green
Rising refers to.
In this story, our heroine, Marisol, loses the love of her life,
Aren, in a mining accident, and spends the next decade as a secret insurgent,
because she believes sabotage by a corrupt intergalactic caused the disaster.
She is bent on revenge, until a starship explodes in her planet’s airspace.
Several cyborgs are rescued from the explosion, and it turns out, they were the
miners from the disaster. Aren has come back to her, but with no memory of his
past life.
4. What are you working on now?
Believe it or not, I am finishing up a short story for the 2021
Holiday/Christmas romance season.
Submissions are due by March for consideration. The working title is
Candles and Honey Cookies: A Hannukah
Fable. I am also revising a future dystopia, which has romance elements, but is
not a true romance and later this year, I will start writing Green Rising Book
3.
5. Does your reading choices influence your choice of a writing
career?
My reading choices very much influenced my writing. Science fiction has been a constant in my
reading life. Mysteries also dominant my reading list but I have yet to dip my
pen into writing one. As for paranormal and romance, I have always cycled in
and out of them—digging in deep for a while, then taking a break. I am not completely sure why.
