Review:
Janet Lane Walters has written a charming tale.

Ms Lane-Walters is conversant with hospitals and
hospital procedures. In this interesting
medical romance, she returns to Eastlake Community Hospital
in which the first of the
series
was set. Exhausted, Laurel ,whose
star sign is Taurus, is an heiress orphaned in
tragic
circumstances when she was three-years-old. She leaves India , where she has
been
working for International Health Rescue Mission as part of a team following
disasters, dispensing care and training health
workers. She has fled from Neil Browne
who asked her to marry him, but she did not
want all he has to offer her, a roving life.
When
she arrives in America
with the hope of finding a permanent home, Alex Carter,
her
friend Megan’s brother collects her from the airport. Within next to no time she
collapses and is admitted to hospital
suffering from pneumonia. Alex, a doctor, father
of
five-year-old Johnny, is still angry after his divorce and his former wife’s
death. There
is no
room in his life for another spoiled, selfish rich woman so it’s useless for
Megan to
match
make. This is an intriguing novel about two characters with problems which need
to be
resolved, and Alex’s delightful, but insecure young son, who adores his father
and
is
traumatised by the loss of his mother. The Taurus Scorpio Connection is a story
to
relax
with and enjoy it.
Excerpt:
At the end of the ramp she scanned
the milling crowd and looked toward the barrier where people waited. Where was
Megan? Without warning a memory of being sixteen and in love rocked Lauren.
A tall, blonde, athletic man
studied the people emerging from the flight. His glance slid past her. She
walked toward him. “Alex Carter, what are you doing here?”
“Lauren Richmond, I’m here to take
you to Eastlake .”
He clasped her hand.
“I thought Megan was meeting me.”
“She had to work.” His gaze swept
over her. “Rough trip? You look exhausted.”
“I’ve been living a hectic life.
How did Megan trick you into meeting me? I could have rented a car.”
A lock of sun-brightened hair fell
across his forehead. “That’s a long story. I didn’t know you were coming until
six a.m. when my scatterbrain sister called. ‘Alex, I have to work and Lauren’s
arriving at ten and could you meet her and I know you’re off so say yes.’”
Lauren laughed. “All without a
breath and you agreed.”
He took her arm. His touch, the
overheated building, the noisy crowd combined to make her feel faint. She
inhaled. A trickle of perfume triggered a cough. She fought to catch her
breath. “Let’s get my bag.”
“Are you home for good?”
How could she tell him she didn’t
have a home, just two residences the bank had retained? Would he understand why
she had returned to Eastlake ?
“I don’t know.”
“Why don’t you consider staying in Eastlake ? The hospital
needs nurses. Have you kept your license?”
“Yes.” She noted the overhead signs
pointing to the baggage area and turned to the right. “Lately I haven’t been
thinking beyond each day.”
His fingers lightly stroked her
jacket sleeve. She wondered if he was aware of the action. The rush of heat she
felt in response to his gentleness dissolved the wall holding her pain. In
silence she walked beside her.
Once they reached the revolving
baggage carrousel for her flight she pointed to the khaki duffel circling with
the suitcases. “The duffel’s mine.”
Alex snagged the strap. “Just one.”
She nodded. “I’ve learned to travel
light. Not much room in a tent or a hut.”
“What were you doing in a tent?”
“Working for International Health
Rescue Missions. Didn’t Megan tell you?”
“Probably. It’s hard finding facts
in her chatter.”
They entered the bullet train and
exited minutes later at the door leading to the parking lot. The air redolent
with exhaust fumes made her choke and cough. Alex opened the car door and slid
the duffel in the back.

The heroine's feeling of being unsettled and restless comes through nicely.
I can feel her unsettled attitude. I think she might have found home, even without the handsome escort!
You've done a good job bringing out the emotions inherent in this situation.
After what she's been through, she needs a place to call home. A handsome blond doesn't hurt, either.
Loved the excerpt. You could feel the emotion swirling around them. Great descriptions. Thanks for sharing. Good luck!
