Meander 1 - Reading _ I'm about fantasied out. Been Reading Anne McCaffrey's Pern series for several weeks not. I really enjoy rereading these books but I feel I need a change of pace so I'll be reading some BWL released. One is by my friend Eileen Charbonneau. I remember when she started this book. She was part of the critique group and a fellow chapter member. She's such a lyrical writer and does history romance wonderfully. There are others I'll be reading, too. Then I'll return to Pern.

Meander 2 _ Waiting - This morning I tried to get onto our chapter loop but alas I couldn't get into the room. My computer wouldn't let me download the site calling it dangerous. I used the phone to dial in and I could hear people. Interesting while you're listening to voices to put them to the people. Most were easily recognized but others, it took time to identify their voices. So at present, I'm waiting until the day when we can return to physical meeting.

Meander 3 - Writing - Continuing to expand Tangled Dreams and know the places where I must expand more. But that's for the next draft. The draft I'm finishing is the Plot one to make sure the book follows a proper timeline. Somehow for me having the plot in hand is vitally important. The next one will be more detailed, looking at settings and characters. Then a final look through and I'll be finished.

Meander 1 Poem -- Spring Signs --

Dandilions and robins, crocuses and lambs.
Young horse in the meadow kicking up his heels.
Runners on Broadway with long-legged strides
Leap over pothoses, tip slanted sidewalks
Choosing a track that is close to a mile.
Breathing in spring and feeling the air slap
On their faces to stimulate sap rise.
Joggers like horses trotting their mileage.
One mile today, another tomorrow.
The mare in sweatshirt pulled up lame.
She hobbled homeward, a grin on her face
In her thoughts - They shoot joggers, don't they.

Meander 2 - These days life seems to be filled with waiting and waiting. Sometimes I'm not sure what I wait for. The past week it's been in the ER waiting for a room for my husband. Before that it was waiting for news of his condition. Each time he has a new problem and he sinks, he manages to rally. He's also waiting and I'm not sure for what.

Meander 3 - Writing- I should finish the rough draft of Tangled Dreams this week. There's a lot not in the draft but that's the way I write. Then it will be onto the plot draft. That one is a biggie and I'll have to set the time line and see if all works. That will be fun and sometimes hard. But i'll manage and then move on to other drafts. If only I could get the typing done on the already written ones.

Monday - July 2 - Behind and Ahead

I will admit that I usually have to persuade myself that the rough draft is fun but this time it really is. I often rough draft a book that in the end will be sixty to eighty thousand worda at about 10 to 20 thousand. Why? Many of the scenes I plan to write end up with just a few words., suck as "They make love." Fight scene goes here." Not happening this time. I'm aiming for a 60 thousand story and am prologue plus two chapters in and have 8 thousand words. Hope this doesn't mean the book will be a real epic adventure. Guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.

Sent off The Micro-manager Murder to the publisher and am waiting to hear. Have a tendency to become a bit impatient but I''ll wait for several weeks before jogging publisher's mind. The one thing I will not do is wait nearly a year to discover nothing was going on. I'm sure that's because this time I chose the wrong house to put the book out. But that's another story.

This week I will continue with the rough draft. Won't finish it until perhaps next week but so far I'm having fun. Called Lines of Fire and is part of a trilogy. If I manage to complete this there will be a 12 book cycle featuring the Guilds of a Guild House. Working on the Defender's Guild and there are problems within and possibly without. Complications are what makes a story and handing problems to the characters drive a story forward.
