Meandering on Monday with Janet Lane Walters #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Reading #Writing #Thoughts - Olympics

Meander 1 - Reading - Read Seasoned Hearts by J. S. Marlo and enjoyed the story a lot. There is mysters and friendship in this story. Also great characters who have troubled lives. Have been reading Carly Phillips books. In the series, one of the books was new. Always a pleasure to read new books.

Meander 2 - Thoughts - Olympics - Been watching sporadically since I really like the figure skating and the ski jumping. Not sure why those two. The men's skaters were great as were the tem skates. The women's had a problemwith someone having used a no no drug in the recent past. If shehad won, there would have been no medals ceremony. That fifteen year old did what shehad to do. But this was rather sad and I wonder what the adults in her life were doing.

Meander 3 - Writing - Working on the second re-write of the story. I doibt I will make thedeadline but I'm doing my best.

Meandering on Monday with Janet Lane Walters #MFRWAuthor #BWLAuthor #Reading #Thoughts # Death #Spider #Writing

Meander 1 _ Reading -  Have now reached the end of book 18 of Cherryh's series and am waiting for the next one to arrive. I;ve also been reading a few other things. The Hacker by Nancy Harkness - a nice romance. Temptation on Ocean Drive by Jennifer Probst - a great book with a heroine several times I wanted to shake. Ghost Guardian by S. Peters Davis - A young adult paranormal that had some great elements about a heroine who sees and talks to ghosts and also a romance built -in.

Meander 2 - Death of A Spider - I was sitting in my study getting ready to work on my current work in progress when I heard a blood curdling scream from the kitchen. Then my granddaughter kept yelling. I thought she was being attacked so I grabbed my phone and ran to the kitchen. The attack was at a distance. She stood with the pest spray container she'd purchased. Now this isn't a small spray can. This is a huge container I can't lift and a wand that extends about three feet or more. She stood a dozen feet from the bathroom trying to spray a spider on the far wall. I tried not to laugh but couldn't stop. I wanted to go in and smash the spider but alas, I am not tall enough. Rescue came when her friend, a tall young man entered, took off his sneaker and did the deed. My granddaughter had fled. I had no idea where. Spider demised. She returned and wanted proof of death. Her friend said he wiped it with a tissue and tossed it in the garbage. How do you know it's dead. Panic filled ehr voice. Between butsts of laughter we assured her the great beast was truly squished.

Meander 3 - Writing - Am now in the big re-write phase of Nilos and this is going well. The rough draft came up at 40,000 words plus. Will see what this draft does to the word count.  Could double but probably not but surely more than 60,000 words by the end. Then there will be three more books in the series to finish. We'll see how this goes.

Meandering on Monday with Janet Lane Walters #MFRWauthor #BooksWeLoveLTD #Poem #protest #writing

Meander 1 - Poem - Cancer Woman

I am the sea
Rising, falling
Kept in time by the conductor moon
Liquid, flowing, inconstant

I am the shallow sea
Lapping shores with gentle tongue
Touching, retreating
Kissing fluid lips against the sand
Pulsing, holding, caressing,

I am the deep sea
Issuing challenges
Hiding secrets, mysterious
In caves and crannies
Deep, bottomless, Unexplored.

I am the raging sea
Throwing my frenzied self
White rushing caps against the rocks
grasping, reaching, mine.

I am the eroding sea
Silent, crab-like, digging from within
Eroding pits
Grinding rocks to sand

I am the calm sea
An amniotic fluid
Gently touching, nourishing friends
To stimulate contractions of their birth

Meander 2 - Protests - I wish I could have gone to Washington DC on Saturday. I would have liked to be with those brave children and adults protesting for better gun laws. How we can allow things like this to happen in our land troubles me. But I have been troubled by guns for too many years and by the people who feel they must have them to destroy other people. I hope this protest opens eyes but I doubt much will be done until these brave children are old enough to vote.

Meander 3 - Writing - Still slogging with getting the writing done. 4 snow storms haven't helped since then the help I need can't come and I have things I must do rather than write. Still, I think I will meed the deadline barely.

Meandering On Monday with Janet Lane Walters #MFWRAuthor #Poem #Writing #Caretaking

Meander 1 - Poem  Ways of Life

Some days life ahs made me old
And other days quite young.
It depends on who I meet,
The turning that i take.
There are some whose wisdom deep
Makes me feel infant like
Others need my knowingness
To help their daily growth.
Tis is how living should be.
There shouldn't be a time
When we hold ourselves above
Or cast ourselves below.
Life is made for shariing
And we must find a way
To live with one another
In a sharing feeling way.

Meander 2 - Caretaking - I have a large responsible for my husband of more than fifty years. He is ailing and needs a lot of assistance. Some days, I feel as though I'd like some time away but that won't happen without the help of others. I'm fortunate there to have my two sons and my granddaughter to lend a hand. There's also the aide who comes in five mornings a week.

Meander 3 - Working on a deadline and hopefully I'm making good progress. I'll soon reach the midway point of the book and that makes me happy. The story is shaping up and the romance is developing nicely. Hopefully I can really make this happen before April first.
