Tuesday's Writer's Tip - Plot and me #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Plot #Characters

Finished the many days of speaking about Polt and keeping this part of the story going. I'm really a plot driven author but one of my writing friends said something different. She admits that I'm plot oriented but she contends suddenly the characters take over.  I'm not sure I agree but she could be right.

When I begin a story, my characters don't have names but titles hero, heroine, villain or secondary character. I really plan the story from the beginning to the end. Of course this isn't carved in stone. The final product can be different from this first story sketch that happens ,ostly in my head until I feel the need to write a chapter synopois. At this point the characters develop names and traits.

Then comes the rough draft which realizees the chapter synopsis with changes as needed. Then I  doa double read through amd keke notes on the printed pages, lots of notes but only about plot points and setting. Then I write another draft of the story. By write, I mean physically with pen and paper on lined tablets. This is typed in

Then it's on to another double read through for characters and language. Then I final write through but not a complete one. This is mainly redoing scenes and adding material that somehow I've skimmed over. I'm sure this drives my critique partners crazy since what really happens is instead of cutting parts that have bohered them, I expand. A final read through for spelling and grammar takes place and the book is done.
