There are a number of stories that revolve around a theme. These type of stories are hard to carry through without a plot. One of my stories was really about obsessions and each of the characters had an obsession. Pulling the into a story was difficule but Code Blur was born from the obsessions of the characters.Having the plot helped bring the characters and story together. What happened was each character had their mosaic in the story. One was obsessed with gossip. One with drugs and alcohol. severral were obsessed with a man, The heroine was obsessed with being strong and managing on her own. Even the villain had his own obeseeion, This single theme was aided by the plot.
One problem was in showing rather than having the characters give speeches about their particular obsession. Revision of this story took much longer than the initial writing. Their actions and reactions were what had to show the theme. Showing the opposition of charcters is vitalto this type of story and sometimes it goes over the top. Well done theme centered stories have an impact.
