The Rivalry Plot is one frequently used in stories. In the opening, the two characters who are rivals are introuduce. They may or may know each other. Perhaps they were friends until something happened to change this. They both may want the same job, romance or almost anything two people might want. The opening scene shows the pair and also shows what leads up to the rivalry.

The Rivalry plot is one I've used aeveral times. This plot has two characters wanting the same thing. Of the two, one may be the right one and one not. Or both could ahve good qualities but only one can win. This plot can be used in many genres but only one can win.
