This us the second of the series. Part of the inspiration came from a friend who plays the organ. I often enjoyed spending time listening to his mastery of music. He's nothing like the character of the book except for being an excellent musician.
1. What were you before you became an author?
Did this influence your choices as a writer?
I’ve
been a music teacher for 37 years, piano and guitar. I have a degree in music
education. It definitely influences my writing. My first novel, just released
last year, features a music teacher as the female lead. And music plays a major
role, providing many of the clues to solve the mystery.

Are you genre specific or general? I don’t mean major genres but subdivisions
or romance, mystery or paranormal.
I
had intended to write romance in general, but my focus has become romantic
suspense. I love doing research and creating clues to mysteries and alternating
between the suspense and the romance.
3.
What is your latest release?
Note by Note is my first completed novel,
published on Amazon last year. It’s a romantic suspense centered in Sydney, Australia.
But there is quite a bit of travel involved - Tasmania, Florence, Seattle,
Hawaii, the Mediterranean. I did a lot of traveling over the years and always
loved Australia. It begins with a plane crash and the mystery revolves around
why it happened and leads to clues in art and music in all the exotic
locations.

What are you working on now?
I’m
working on two projects right now. The first is a direct sequel to Note by Note featuring Finn and Jess in
another mystery. And I’m experimenting with time travel this time. But that
will only be a fun side trip for them. I don’t intend to make time travel a
theme in the rest of the series. It’s just something I want to try.
The
second project is Memory by Memory, a
part of the series called Hearts in Danger
I’m developing around the family and friends of Finn and Jess. The first is
about Max Chase, who helped them in Hawaii. As the story opens, he has lost his
memory and it slowly returns as he unravels a mystery involving the doctor who
tries to help him.

Do your reading choices influence your choice of a writing career?
Definitely.
I’ve always been an avid reader. I gravitated toward Sandra Brown when she
wrote Harlequin series romance. When she began writing romantic suspense, I was
hooked. She is an amazing story teller. I also like Alyssa Day, Barbara
Delinsky, and Suan Mallery.

Excerpt:
To the sounds of her nephew banging notes on a xylophone, Maria emptied the last box of kitchenware she’d found at the thrift shop less than a block from the apartment complex. She paused and laughed. She knew that song, the theme from Jeopardy, her mother’s favorite program.
She drew a deep breath. So much to do to make this one bedroom apartment into a home for her four year old nephew. Beds to make, clothes to unpack. She needed to buy curtains to cover the blinds and add color to the ecru walls. She’d been fortunate that the woman from the Human Resources Department at Fern Lake General had found this place.
Last night, she and Jamie had slept on the green carpet in the living room pretending to be camping. This morning the furniture and other purchases from the thrift shop had been delivered.
Jamie finished his rendition with a sweep of the hammer over the keys. She leaned against the counter and loaded their bowls from lunch into the dishwasher.
Maria drew a deep breath. Inside, she quivered with tension she refused to allow to show. She must succeed.
Enough dawdling. There was a man she needed to see. Her gut clenched.
“Jamie, put your toys away. We’re going to see your father.” And pray the man agrees to pay for Jamie’s pre-school while she worked. Two weeks from today, she started at the local hospital as an occupational therapist.
“Will he like me?” Jamie asked.
She hated the worry in the boy’s voice and in his brilliant green eyes. She ruffled his dark curls. “What’s not to like?”
“He never came to see me.”
Maria sucked in a breath. She could have tried to locate the man years ago, but her mother had been adamantly opposed. “He didn’t know about you. Nana didn’t know his last name.” Maria brushed hair from her face. They could have learned. She couldn’t tell Jamie about his grandmother’s anger. Guilt curled in her thoughts.

Maria is a new occupational therapist. She is beginning a new job and she chose this place because she wants to unite her young nephew with his father. After graduation and her mother's death, she packs the house to sell it and finds about her sister's marriage and the father of her son. Her sister died in a auto crash and the child waremoved from her womb, small but he thrived.
Jay is composer and he's busily working on the score for a musical. He has finally recovered from his disasterous marriage and sseveral yearsof not being able to write music. When Maria and the child appear on his doorstep, he believes this is a scam. He'd been informed about his ex-wife's death and believes she had an abortion. The problem is the child has green eyes like his and his sister's. Can he truest this woman and accept his son.
Carlos, Maria's brother pushed his dead sister and believes he can make money from telling the child's father the truth. He also wants custody of Jamie and threatens Maria.
Jamie is five years old. The child is musically talented and a charmer.
