The revenge plot is an intense one. One person wants revenge for some thing they blame on someone else for doing. This may be an actual event or one in their head. Thisis a look at injustice and often falls outside the limits of the law. Revenge is vigilante justice and not just that is set by law. "An eye for an eye." Easy to understand and hard to walk away from the problem. Think of Hamlet and you have the revenge plot spelled out.
As to characters, there's the good guy who is forced by circumstances to seek revenge. There is the bad guy who has committed the crime and has escaped punishment. Then there is the victim who has been harmed. Tossing them together an you have the revenge plot.
