1. Are you a panster or a plotter or perhaps a bit of both?
I’m a plotter, and I like to outline chapter by chapter. I use pen, paper, and colored pencils, but sometimes I plot in a Word doc. I try to follow my notes exactly, but more often than not, the characters take control and steer my story in another direction. Then I have to get into arguments with my H/h, or even the secondary characters, and force them back into the outline. More often than not, they refuse to get back in line and I have to write what they want.
Heh, it’s a give and a take relationship.
2. Which comes first - characters or plot for you?
Plot, definitely. If I don’t know where the story is going, then I can’t create the characters.
3. What are you working on now? Is this a book in a current series or something totally new?
I’ve been so busy releasing two new books this winter season that I haven’t been writing much, which is starting to wear on my sanity. I NEED to write!
Anyway, my newest release Harmony’s Embrace tells the story of Birley Haynes reuniting with his high school sweetheart, Harmony Holdich. I love holiday-themed books, so this one takes place at Christmastime. It’s the follow-up novella to Lyrical Embrace, and both books are in the multi-author Deerbourne Inn series with The Wild Rose Press.
4. Do you have some kind of object or place that figures in most of your books? I use gems a lot, hospitals and caves.
No, I don’t think so. I always try to give at least one of my main characters a pet, but I can’t manage it with every story.
5. Do you write everyday or just when the spirit hits?
Normally, I write everyday, but as I said, I’ve been super busy coming up with guest posts, interviews, etc for the latest releases. So I guess I am writing, but it’s not the fun stuff. Though I do love sinking into my characters’ heads for intense Q&A sessions.
6. Who are your favorite authors? What about a book you’ve enjoyed?
Sorry, I can’t say. I read a lot, but I don’t have a favorite author or series. Recent books that I’ve enjoyed are Tabitha Conall’s Colliding Worlds series and Arial Burnz’s Bound by Blood series.
7. Where can we find you?
All over the Internet. Just type “Amber Daulton” in the Google search bar, and lots of hits come up. The first time I did that, I was so surprised by all the websites and posts I’m linked to.

Nice interview, Amber!
Those characters often have a mind of there own, don't they?
I'm so happy you could visit, Dee and Sierra.
Oh yes, those characters have a mind of their own! They drive me bonkers sometimes. :)
Thanks for featuring me, Janet!
