Tuesday's Writer's Tip - Research Books or Internet #MFRWAuthor #BWLAuthor #Research #Books #Internet

Research for your stories can be fun or tedious. I was looking at my bookshelves and found I have non-fiction books on a lot of strange subjecte. Take snakes. I don't like snakes but I have used them in stories probably for their creep or danger features. For some reason I wanted to know how they looked so I could add to the description. I also found books on many cultures like the Celts, India and other places. There are many on Egypt. The Egyptian ones have found their way into a trilogy. The other cultures have found their way into my fantasy and paranormal stories. I really love having the books to look up and some of them I have read cover to cover. But sometimes the books on my shelved don't have what I want. I do have books on medicine and nursing but they don't cover the very modern techniques or treatments. What then.

I turn to the internet. I've recently been researching childhood leukemia for a book. I will admit, I don't understand all that's written. But neither would my readers. I'll admit when I want a quick research answer, I do go on line and look rather than plot through a book looking for the illusive fact.

How about you? Do you completely depend on one type of source for your research or do you browse around from book to internet?
