St. Patrick's Day - Memories #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Memories #St. Patrick's Day #Memories #Choices
Johanna Gordon devotes her time and energy to her job as Director of Nursing at Hudson Community Hospital. With budget cuts hanging over her head, Johanna suspects the CEO of scheming a plan that threatens her job as well as the hospital, and she’s determined to find out why.
The choices she’s made for herself and her career leave her with no social life until she meets Dylan Connelly. He’s everything she’s always wanted, loving, devoted to his kids and everything she’s never had. Just when she finds love with the new man, an old flame returns with promises of a life together. Johanna has to decide between security and companionship, while trying to recapture the past, or moving forward with her new life.
A fun book to write but my Irish memories are ones of a years ago trip to Ireland when I was able to visit the town where one of my relatives came from. I also remember Ireland for the greens. Seemed as though there were hundreds shades of greens.
Another memory was during our exploring trip of watching a black and white collie performing herding tricks. The shepherd of the flock gave us a look at how the dog obeyed commands and how it herded the sheep. Was a wonderful stop beside the roam just to rest our legs but also to watch the dog and the shepherd. No words were taken, just hand signals to the dog.
Weaving memories is what I do these days. mostly along with weaving stories.

Tuesday's Writer's Tip #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Genres #Fiction #Types
Genre fiction is many things. There are mysteries, suspense, romance, fantasy. Each of these categories can have a subgenre. These genres also can combine. Take a suspense story and add a heroine to the hero's quest to fine the villain and the story changes slightly.
Mainstream fiction is looking at best-seller status. There can be elements of genres in the story. This type of story isn't comfortable being just a genre book.
Experimental fiction breaks the rules in some way. I've attempted this kind of story and failed. The writers of this type of fiction are interested in form.

MY granddaughter rani and assessed the klutz. My fore head was turning color. "I may have a concussion, I said. "To the hospital, she said. Thre, th did he admission things and took me to radiology. Sometime later the doctor comesin. No concussion," he said. "That's great news, can I go home.
He shook his head. "You've broken your neck and need surgery. Off went to a different hospital and had the surgery. All seems well now.
Meander 3- Writing - Doing a bit on the new ook every day. Hope to finish the first draft in July and then polish to send it off.

Murder and Poisoned Tea is featured on Thursday's opening scene #MFRWAuthor #BWLAuthor #mystery
Introit
On Groundhog Day when Robespierre, my
from his place on the window seat, one thought popped into my head.
Company. Who? After following him to the kitchen, I watched him push
his bulky, brown and black body through the hinged opening at the bottom
of the door. Moments later I peered down the dimly lit stairwell.
Robespierre had sprawled in the center of the third step and blocked my
visitor’s progress.
“Good grief, Katherine, I hope he’s not planning to bite me again.”
Edward Potter, pastor of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, glared at the cat.
His voice had risen to a high pitch. “Whatever do you feed him? He’s ever
so much bigger than Bitsy.”
The temptation to say my pet fed on pastors was strong. I refrained
and fought to control a grin that threatened to blossom. Teasing Edward
usually results in a lecture delivered in an indignant voice.
With an air of disdain, Robiesperre stretched. His back rippled in a
way I envy. Then he slithered around Edward.
When Edward reached the top of the steps, he turned and peered at
the cat. “He’s becoming more brazen.”
“Only toward selected guests. He ignores most people.” I turned my
head and Edward brushed my cheek with his lips.
Edward is a dapper little man with an ear for gossip and a penchant
for turning even the slightest event into a fiesta or a disaster. He’s astute
about church politics. The coffers at St. Stephen’s are filled through his
ability to cosset and cajole the elderly population of the church, mainly
wealthy women. I partially fit the category, being over sixty-five, and while
not rich, I’m at least comfortable.
When he entered the sunlit kitchen, the expression on his face
announced a problem. He walked into the living room. Unlike most of my
guests, he considered chats at the kitchen table for commoners. In the
living room, he perched on the edge of a Queen Anne chair, purchased
years ago before antiques became the rage. In the past twenty years,
stores selling every manner of old things have spread plague-like in the
business district of the
“You’re tense. How about a cup of mint tea?”
“Not all the tranquilizers in the world will calm me. It’s a disaster, a
complete and utter tragedy.” His hands fluttered. The words rolled out like
a sermon promising hell and damnation. “How will we maintain the quality
of the services? Easter will be a disaster.”
My forehead wrinkled. What in the world had stirred him into this
state? The last time had been when one of the altar boys had spilled the
communion wine. Had there been a fire at the church? A flood? A
plague? The strident fire whistles had been silent for days. What had
occurred? Knowing a full and dramatic scene would develop, I wanted
mint tea.
“I’ll heat the water. Then you can tell me about this tragedy.” Mint
tea is my all-purpose remedy, calming nerves and stimulating the mind,
bringing alertness or sleep.
I retreated to the kitchen, filled the kettle and stuffed a silver ball with
an assortment of dried mint leaves. While the water boiled, I assembled the
pottery mugs, sugar and spoons on a wooden tray.
“Why will Easter be a problem?” I set the tray on a Duncan Phyfe
table.
“We may have to cancel the season.” He patted his thinning light
brown hair.
I swallowed a laugh. “How can we cancel one of the main reasons
for St. Stephen’s existence?”
“Are you making fun of me?” His voice rose in pitch. “I’m
absolutely serious.” He accepted a mug. “Mary’s husband has been
transferred. It’s a disaster.”
I mentally sorted through all the Marys in the congregation and tried
to decide which one’s leaving would cause Edward to fall apart. Who had
triggered the word of the day? On another level, the need to giggle soared.
Perched on the edge of the chair and holding a teacup with both hands,

Warrior of bast - Meet the hero #MFRWHooks #BWLAuthor #Paranormal #Time travel #Alternate ancient Egypt #Romance
Join the authors at #MFRWHooks here http://mfrwbookhooks.blogspot.com for some great excerpts. Mine is found at www.eclecticwriter.blogspot.com Tira learns about the tasks she must perform and meets Kashe, whose goals ae the same.
Kashe, son of the nomarch of Mero is in rebellion. His father desires him to join the priesthood of Aken Re, a foreign god. He feels he belongs to Horu, god of warriors and justice. He decides to leave home, meets Tira and joins her in the search for the symbols of the rule. Will his aid bring good fortune and will their growing love keep them from making a fatal mistake?
Previously published as The Warrior of Bast
"This engaging voyage into an ancient Egypt that includes power-hungry priests and hazardous treasure hunts entertains from page one. Familial intrigue heightens the tension, as does a kidnapping or two. The cast of characters is dynamic and complements the well-conceived plot." ~ 4 Stars, Susan Mobley, Romantic Times Magazine
Excerpt:
Kashe of Mero sat on his bed in his chamber of the family compound. His
head pounded. When he opened his eyes he saw the day had progressed into late
afternoon. The bright light made him wince. He recalled the past night’s
celebration for the retirement of the family’s arms master. Tuten had been
Kashe’s mentor and friend. From the older man he had learned the skills of a
warrior. Last night Kashe had finally defeated his mentor with weapons and a
capacity for beer.
“Kashe.” His father’s voice stabbed like a dagger.
He groaned and sat up. The drum in his head banged. Leave me alone, he
wanted to shout. The nomarch of Mero’s anger toward his middle son was nothing
new. What did he want now?
As second son Kashe had been marked for the priesthood. He had no desire
to become a priest. He found satisfaction in his role as a warrior. Yet, duty
called for obedience.
If any other temple had been chosen he might have agreed. He had no taste
for this
He rose. He couldn’t help that in stature and build he resembled the
Nubian ancestors his father and older brother chose to forget in their desire
for power. If Pian became pharaoh the nomarch of Mero would become his son’s
chief advisor.
“Are you coming?” his father asked.
If he said no who knew what would happen. Kashe stretched. “As soon as I
wash and dress.” Though he would rather have bathed he would make do here. He
glanced in the polished metal mirror. His warrior’s braid was neat enough. He
poured water from a pitcher into a basin and washed. After donning a fresh kilt
he fitted wrist and arm bands and selected a collar necklace.

Tuesday's Writer's Tip - Plots in summary #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Plots #Necessity
Been writing about Plots anf yhe many different ones for many months. Just a few things to clear up. A plot is necessary to a good story. There are as many plots , and some are nearly the same. Just a small point in their journey changed and you have a different plot. What the writer must do is determine which plot serves the purpose.. Remember this "A plot is just a plan to take the characters from the beginning to the end
