Saturday at eclecticwriter.blogspot.com I talk about my plans for writing next year. #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #writing #nurse doctor #Cozy myatery

I have an interesting writing schedule for next year. Two of the books are expected by my publisher. Home Caring is a nurse doctor story with a twist since he's the patient and probably the most alpha hero I've ever writing. Two fractured legs and a fractured are are his crosses to beat. The second is a return on Katherine Miller Title to be decided either Spiked Tea or Spiced Tea and this involves the mayor of ehr town and his doings.

There are two other stories I plan to finish. One is the sixth book of the Moon Rising series but my publisher won't be doing any more fantasies. Not sure what I will do with the story bit I will finish. The other is Imagined Dreams one of the Moonchild series. I also plan to finish it.

Then there are several other rough drafts I discovered in my file drawers. One is a Regency historical with the sister of the heroine of Gemstones and the other is just a blurb written for the story of the youngest sister. I will be looking at these and a couple of other partial manuscripts I've found. Not sure what I will do with them but I believe they are for another year.

Friday Year's Ending #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Last year #writing #Books #Medical suspense #fantasy

Last year, I finished threebooks and they saw the light of day Committee of Angels was the first and is a medical suspense with a bit of romance. Incal came out December 31 2o21 but really was this year. Seppal is a fantasy and the fifth book in a series.

Writing these books was fun. I also began two books that will perhaps never make the internet at this moment until I'm ready to self-publish them.

Thursday Writing Whispers From Yesteryear #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #paranormal #romance #French and Indian War #Dreams

This story began with a strange experience. I was with my children and my father on a trip upstate in Pa. We were walking through the forest and admiring the huge tall pines. Almost seemed like a cathedral. I saw something from the corner of my eyes and thought I was seeing an interaction, one of those historical ones. I asked my dad if he saw the Frenchmen and iNdians. He wold my I was seeing things. Then he wanted to walk out to the overlook. I couldn't more. When he asked me why, I said "They threw me over." He shook his head and took the boys to see them. When he returned, he shook his head. He said there was a sign about Indian children being thrown to their deaths by French and indians,

For years, this experience stayed with me and also helped me understand why I hated to stand on a heighth when someone was with me. I had no problem when alone. Finally, the characters came to me and I began to write the story. Both the hero and the heroine make trips into the past perhaps in dreams or not. I really had a great time writing this story.

Shattered Dreams Meet the Hero #MFRWHooks #BWLAuthor #Romance #medical #Astrology

Join the authora at MFRWHooks here  http://mfrwbookhooks.blogspot.com  for some great excerpts. Mine is found at https://wwweclecticwriter.blogspot.com and is a medical romance.

BLURB
Torn apart years ago by lies and threats, Rafe Marshall returns to town and confronts Manon Lockley. She has been told he died on the night he stood her up for their senior prom.

When she faints, Rafe catches her and realizes he hasn’t stopped loving her. Manon carries anger and now grief that wasn’t real. Rafe wants her in his life, but she doesn’t want to talk about what happened in the past. She can’t be sure if her father or someone else told lies about Rafe and she doesn’t want to know. Can Rafe persuade her to listen? Not without a battle.

Excerpt:

“Manon!” Rafe Marshall leaped from the examining table in time to catch her before she hit the floor. He cradled her against his chest. “Didn’t mean to scare you,” he whispered. Why did she think he was dead? He knew news of his accident had been kept quiet because the police believed he’d been deliberately forced off the road. Who had told her? Had the informant been the driver of the dark car his rescuer had seen speeding from the scene?

The citrus aroma of her shampoo brought memories of years ago when he had buried his face in her sunlit hair before they made love. His body responded to her presence and the sensual recollections. Thank heavens the gown was cloth. The urgent rise of his cock would have punctured paper.

Carefully, he placed her on the table. He stroked her face with his fingers and brushed his lips over hers. Any anger remaining from the past vanished beneath the heat of desire.

Manon was beautiful and his. The knowledge rung true. Even if she wouldn’t admit the strength of the bond, he knew. How could he explain why he’d taken so long to find her? Would she believe that any trace of her had vanished in Europe three years after she’d begun touring with her father?

He stepped back from the table. He had many things to tell her. Some of the revelations would cause anger, denial and pain. At this moment, he didn’t know where to begin. She wasn’t the teenage girl who had loved him. Had her love morphed into hate? He could handle that but not indifference.

Why hadn’t she answered the letters he’d written after the amnesia had cleared enough for him to remember her? Those notes had been sent months after her eighteenth birthday. Had she received the messages? That was one question he intended to ask. He needed to clear the past so he could move forward.

He had to tell her about the accident, the multiple injuries, the surgeries and the months of rehab. He wanted her to know though he’d left on their prom night, he’d decided to come for her after her eighteenth birthday.

Tuesday's Writer's Tip - It's Your World #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #writing #Plots #World

When you set out to write a story, it's your world you're showing to the readers. There are a few things to remember when placing characters in this world. Making the hero or heroine totally wonderful won't make the reader want to read on. Making the antagonist thoroughly evil also won't set your reader to turning pages. What you need to do is give your characters a well rounded personality. Yes she or he should win what they're looking for but making them opposed by a really bad guy isn't going to make the reader want to know more. Both kinds of characters need assets and flaws. So your heroine is stubborn and refuses to listen to others. This can lead her into trouble. Trouble is what makes the story work. And the villain to have no quality that makes him or her human won't win the reader's attention. Showing those little traits that are in opposition to what they are protraying in the story draws the reader in. So remember it's your world you're creating and so are the people living in the pages.  Give the hero or heroine great qualities but also show their flaws. As for the villain show him a bit of humanity along with his bad traits.

Friday Krissie Fortune is Visiting eclecticwriter.blogspot.com and talking about Characters #MFRWAuthor #Alpha males

Day 1 Characters

2. Heroes, Heroines, Villains. Which are your favorite to write?

My books all have alpha heroes, and each time I write one, I fall a little bit in love with him. Then again, I wouldn’t want to live them. Too much testosterone, if you  know what I mean. My villains usually have a redeeming feature, although it doesn’t necessarily show when I write them. My heroines, though. They are strong sassy women who will stand up for themselves. Sometimes they need a little help though. That’s when my alpha heroes take center stage. I enjoy making them interact as they fall in love.

3. Heroes. How do you find them? Do pictures, real life or plain imagination create the man you want every reader to love? Do they come before the plot or after you have the idea for the story?

When I come up with a hero, I start with an appropriate name. If he’s from a regency book, I check for historical names of the time. My small town heroes all ex-military, daring, and tough. I work out their age then look at the popular names from the year they were born. Then I usually change it.

I start with them, then work out who they’d fall for and what sort of trouble my hero’s in. When I wrote His Innocent Bride, the hero’s former mistress wants him back. She has help from an unexpected quarter, and he believes she’s scared of the wedding bed. She hires a tutor to teach her about sex.

When I write about my paranormal heroes, I can name them after classical gods, biblical characters, or anything else that takes my fancy. In my first Menage, I went for Bronte, Plato, and Gore. I try to give them flaws as well as pluses. Perfect would be damned annoying.

4. Heroines. How do you find them? Do pictures, real life or imagination create the woman you want the reader to root for? Do they appear before the plot or after you have the idea for the story? My current favorite book

I often start with a scene featuring the heroine. As I write it, I learn how she thinks and moves. That scene doesn’t often make it into the final draft, but it helps me build up her character. In Claimed as Theirs, the bad guys throw my human heroine—Gwen—into a cage of hungry vampires. That one made the cut.

One of my favorite books is my updated my Christmas story – Marriage, Mobsters, and the Marine. I’m a pantster not a planner. This one broke all my rules. I started with a downtrodden heroine who hasn’t enjoyed Christmas since her father died when she hit her teens. I needed to add danger and a major former military hero. I came up with a marriage of convenience, an evil great aunt who left a twisted will, and a self-contained Marine who never misses a shot. Of all my heroes Jared Armstrong is the one I could live with. He wants to walk away from killing and warfare, but circumstances pull him back in.

5. Villains or villainesses or an antagonist, since they don’t always have to be the bad guy or girl. They can be a person opposed to the hero’s or heroine’s obtaining their goal. How do you choose one? How do you make them human?

6. What is your latest release? Who is the hero, heroine and or the villain?

My latest release is Claimed as Theirs, but it’s almost two years old. I had friends who moved mountains during covid. Not me. I couldn’t write for toffee. I’ve almost finished a paranormal now. Since I’m dyslexic, it takes me ages to check the text before I submit it. Fortunately, my husband and my best friend also read them for me. I’d never not have a book edited by a publisher.

7. What are you working on now?

My WIP  has the working title, Riverborn. I guarantee Stormy Night Publishers will come up with something stronger. It features the immortal son of Verbeia—the Roman Goddess of the River Wharfe. I had fun with this one since every place mentioned is visitable in Yorkshire, England. My heroine is kickass enough to stand up to two ancient gods, but she still needs my riverlord’s unusual skill set to survive.

8. How can people find you?

All my books are on Amazon. They can be found here. https://www.amazon.com/stores/Kryssie-Fortune/author/B00J5AQOBU

9. Who are your favorite authors?

I read six or seven books a week. I’m currently fangirling on Tonya Penrose, Linda Rawlings, and Cate C. Wells. That’s an eclectic mix of mystery, philosophy, biker gangs all wrapped up in romance.

Thursday Writing Shattered Dreams #MFRWAuthor #BWLAuthor #Romance #medical # second chance love #past memories

When I had the idea to write a series with all the heroines being born under the sign of Cancer, I realized there would be twelve books. The heroes would be from the other signsof the Zodic. Because all the heroines were born under the sign of Cancer and the moon rules them, I named the series Moon Child. I should have begun with Cancer Aries but as I began to discover the characters, I realized not only was the heroine a Cancer but also the hero. Thus Manon and Rafe came into being. I began with researching my many Astrology books for traits and differences between male and female of thesesigns. Slowly the characters formed. I also learned while writing them of the Cancer's trait of holding onto things and people forever. The story took place and suddenly, I knew the beginning when she hears the motorcycle and is pushed toward the past and fights what for ehr was a time of grief.

The character of the opponent came next. Finally I learned why so many years had gone past with no connection between the two characcters. And finally, the writing went smoothly. It's so wonderful when all the pieces fall into place.

Romancing the Nurse #MFRWHooks #BWLAuthor #romance #Medical #orthopedics #doctor

Join the authors at #MFRWHooks here http://mfrwbookhooks.blogspot.com  for some intriguing excerpts  Mine is found at https://wwweclecticwriter.blogspot.com and is from Romancing the Nurse

Ginny’s new job as patient care coordinator at a suburban hospital is a dream come true. She can raise her daughter and young niece away from the city.

The older orthopedic surgeon who recruited her helps make the move easier. His stroke brings his son, another surgeon home to take over his father’s practice. Unfortunately, Ginny remembers him from an evening encounter at the city hospital where she worked. They had words. He also remembers that night.

They clash but beneath the anger, there is an attraction. Blake wants her in his bed and attempts to romance her. Then he discovers he wants her forever and must eat a lot of crow.

Excerpt:

“Hey, Ginny,”  a red-haired nurse called.  “Any news about Dr. Marshall?”

            “Which one?”  another woman asked.

“The father.  The son’s an unknown.”

How true, Ginny thought.  She reported her latest visit and received reactions similar to Annette’s.

A short time later, Ginny strode to the acute care area where fresh post-ops and those patients who needed special care were admitted.  She stopped at the desk and studied the patient board.

Two of the nurses stopped talking.  Lisa Kingsley smiled, but the blonde’s smile wasn’t friendly.  Ginny looked for Betty Tawser, the third member of the trio who opposed every change on the unit.

With a nod to Lisa, Ginny left the desk and made patient rounds.  When she finished, she starred several names of those who could be moved to make room for patients from the ER, ICU or the OR.

This done, she made rounds on the rehabilitation section of the unit and called Admitting.  For the first time in weeks, there was no overflow of orthopedic patients on any of the medical or surgical units.

Wait until winter, she thought.  But by that time, the nurses would have completed the educational program and the efficiency of the unit would improve.

She headed to her office.  Her life was on schedule, so why was the knot of anticipation expanding?

A rap on the window broke into her reverie.  A grinning Annette peered through the glass.  “Girl, quit your dawdling.  Young Dr. Marshall has arrived.”  She pressed a hand to her chest.  “He’s a man for every woman’s fantasy.”

Ginny shook her head.  She pictured the older Dr. Marshall, subtracted years and added hair.  Pleasant.  Maybe cute, but hardly fantasy material.  She rose.  “I’m on my way.  Wouldn’t want him to accuse me of ignoring him.”

“Won’t happen.  He seems as nice as his dad.  Run, don’t walk.  Rescue him before Val drowns him in sweetness.”

Ginny frowned.  Val -- Sweet -- impossible.  The unit’s secretary was a mistress of the rude put-down.

When Ginny turned the corner, she stopped short.  A barely contained urge to run in the opposite direction caused her to approach the desk with slow, measured steps.  Young Dr. Marshall was tall, handsome -- and black.  He was also the resident who two years ago had questioned her nursing judgment.  Though she had been vindicated, a patient had suffered needless pain.

Her hands curled into fists.  Dr. Marshall laughed at something Val said and then turned to Lisa.  The knot in Ginny’s abdomen swelled into her chest.  No way, she thought.  She wouldn’t allow this man or anyone to detour her from her chosen road.  She plastered a smile on her face that she knew didn’t watch the hostility she felt.
