St. Patrick's Day - Memories #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Memories #St. Patrick's Day #Memories #Choices

This story has an Irish hero -

Johanna Gordon devotes her time and energy to her job as Director of Nursing at Hudson Community Hospital. With budget cuts hanging over her head, Johanna suspects the CEO of scheming a plan that threatens her job as well as the hospital, and she’s determined to find out why.

The choices she’s made for herself and her career leave her with no social life until she meets Dylan Connelly. He’s everything she’s always wanted, loving, devoted to his kids and everything she’s never had. Just when she finds love with the new man, an old flame returns with promises of a life together. Johanna has to decide between security and companionship, while trying to recapture the past, or moving forward with her new life.

A fun book to write but my Irish memories are ones of a years ago trip to Ireland when I was able to visit the town where one of my relatives came from. I also remember Ireland for the greens. Seemed as though there were hundreds shades of greens.

Another memory was during our exploring trip of watching a black and white collie performing herding tricks. The shepherd of the flock gave us  a look at how the dog obeyed commands and how it herded the sheep. Was a wonderful stop beside the roam just to rest our legs but also to watch the dog and the shepherd. No words were taken, just hand signals to the dog.

Weaving memories is what I do these days. mostly along with weaving stories.

Thursday Writing Shattered Dreams #MFRWAuthor #BWLAuthor #Romance #medical # second chance love #past memories

When I had the idea to write a series with all the heroines being born under the sign of Cancer, I realized there would be twelve books. The heroes would be from the other signsof the Zodic. Because all the heroines were born under the sign of Cancer and the moon rules them, I named the series Moon Child. I should have begun with Cancer Aries but as I began to discover the characters, I realized not only was the heroine a Cancer but also the hero. Thus Manon and Rafe came into being. I began with researching my many Astrology books for traits and differences between male and female of thesesigns. Slowly the characters formed. I also learned while writing them of the Cancer's trait of holding onto things and people forever. The story took place and suddenly, I knew the beginning when she hears the motorcycle and is pushed toward the past and fights what for ehr was a time of grief.

The character of the opponent came next. Finally I learned why so many years had gone past with no connection between the two characcters. And finally, the writing went smoothly. It's so wonderful when all the pieces fall into place.

Meandering on Monday with Janet Lane Walters #MFRWAuthor #BWLAuthor #Memories

Meander 1 - Memories - A different start this time. On Friday my husband of sixty years died. He has been critically ill since Christmas Eve and his death  has been expected. Still it is a shock. The children and grandchildren know and the few other relatives we have know. As I've told them "We'll celebrate his life" not his death. That's where the memories begin.

Our first meeting is one that could be found in a romance book. Not the crazy attraction you see in the books but a bit different. I worked on the US Steel ward in Pittsburgh, a forty bed unit with a large 20 bed ward, a small 10 bed one and private and semi-private rooms. The evening was one for the books. Several admissions in serious condition, some with burns from hot metal or acid. While I was busy with these, the intern, thinking he would help let a patient with metastatic cancer stand beside his bed to use the urinal. The man fell and fractured his hip. At this point I was unhappy with doctors. Denny came on the floor. He was a medical student and came to do histories and physicals on the admissions. He asked me if I would be interested in going to a party with him on Friday night. I told him to go away. No doctors, I said in a terse voice. So he left.

Several days later, I had a patient who "didn't drink" go into the DTs. He knocked the aide across the room. When he swung at me, I did a quick turn and you could hear the snap, I then limped through the rest of the evening. The next day, I saw an orthopedic surgeon who announced I had a football injury and would need surgery. I was quickly scheduled for the next day. One of my friends told Denny I was in the hospital. At 6 AM the next morning he appeared at my bedside bearing gifts, two books Hospital Humor and The Life of the Bee. Odd choice but I did read both of those books.

And that was how it began. Our first date was on Valentine's Day. We went to dinner at a place I think served Angus beef and then to the movies. Can't remember the movie's name. This is my memory for the week.

Meander 2 - Writing _ On Friday afternoon I finished the rough draft of Tainted Dreams. A fortunate happening. The final two chapters will need a lot of revamping but I'm starting the Plot draft, to make sure all is proceeding to schedule. There will be some time line things to clarify but that will happen during the draft for plot.

Meandering On Monday with Janet Lane Walters #MFRWauthor #Poem #amwriting

Meander 1 - Poem - Cloud Picnic

We ate above the world.
We three.
You bored.
She lonely.
And I looking for seclusion from the problems of my friends.
A misting rain began to fall
Before we reached out site.
And as we sat the cloudsSurrounded the car and us.
The world outside vanished.
We became part of the cloud.
The station windows open.
The clouds accepted our invitation.
They drifted in to touch us with crisp kisses
Of cool and stinging drops of water,
They misted on my body
And brought forgetfulness.
Light and lilting kisses
Caresses, cool and crisp.

Meander 2 - Memories - sometimes the poems I wrote in the past evoke memories from years ago. Memories of two close friends who have vanished in the mist. Memories of other times when I seemed to be a different person. But memories are often forgotten as one moves on with the life they've chosen to live.

Meander 3 -  Writing - Am nearing the end of the plot draft of the Cancer Capricorn Connection and will soon be ready to move into the Setting Draft. Hopefully that will end the need for complete re-writes of the story and for the Character and Revision drafts all I'll have to do is scribble all over the printed pages. and key the corrections in. Though I feel the last three chapters will need a third re-write. Not feeling yet that I must finish this book at once so that is good. It's been a long time since I've had a new book on the shelves.

Meandering On Monday with Janet Lane Walters #MFRWauthor

Meander 1 - The holidays are closer and closer. My life has been hectic lately but I have managed to decorate the tree with the help of my granddaughter. The tree is a new one and is  artificial since watering a fresh cut tree is too much for the old folks. Putting on the ornaments is a lot of fun and brings back memories. One ornament is from the tree my parents put up. Amazingly the green yarn string has survived. There's also an ornament from the first tree my husband and I erected. A very small tree since we had a very small apartment. So I put ornaments and think of the many memories. I also managed to put the crystal figures on a table. They usually go on the mantle but there is now a television on the mantle but they look beautiful on the coffee table with the lights fixed so they show through the crystal.

Meander 1
2 - Since Christmas is almost here so is New Years. I don't make resolutions. Many people do but I know I will find a way to break them. No resolutions.

Meander 3 - Working on Divided Dreams and am discovering new things about the plot every time I sit down to write the story. Have finished the rough draft and am now putting in the new things I discovered. Stories are often like balls of tangled yarn. There can be many ends and it takes patience to find where each end leads. That's what I'm doing now and it's fun to discover all the twists and turns of the plot and of the characters. The hero and heroine have a past that was hurtful to her and in some ways to him. They now have a present that is forcing them to confront the past. I'm hoping they will have the future I've envisioned. That takes finding the right string in the tangle.
