Meander 1 - Reading - After reading a spate of books by many authors and enjoying the journeys I tookm, I came to the end of the new books. Back to Mary Jo Putney for some Regency romances. One Perfect Rose among them remains one of my fvorites. This book always brings tears and was a great help after I had cataract surgery to keey my eyes wet.

Meander 2 - Thoughts - Some of the things I ordered have arrived andiwth luck the others will be here soon and I'll be able to begin the gifts for my critique group. This will be an interesting experiment. Hope it works.

Meander 3 - Writing - Have sloweddown on Committee. It's the time of year when other things take presidence. I'll be back full steam soon.

Meandering on Monday with Janet Lane Walters #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Reading #Writing #Thoughts

Meander 1 - Reading - Still reading Mary Jo Putney's regency romances and have nearly finished the ones I have. There have been so few new books that interest me so I re-read. I've started Jennifer Probst's new book but i'll talk about that next week.

Meander 2 - Thoughts - So much dreadful happened last week. I just can't understand people who listen to and believe lies by a large con artist. I decided to do something different and that was taking the ornaments from the Christmas tree and counting them. This year of the 250 ornaments I have I only managed to find room for 224 ornaments. Some were left out. Decorating a tree for so few people might have seemed foolish to some people but with the state of affairs these days having something beautiful to look at and having the memories the ornaments brought was good. Soom I hope there will be beautiful things happening to this country. One can only hope.

Meander 3 - Writing - 3 more chapters to write in the rough draft. Then comes the challenge of making this mishmash into a real story. Hopefully before long I will start on the next adventure. Finding places ot hint of coming events in the story, events I had no idea would come into play. This will be fun.

Meandering on Monday with Janet Lane Walters #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Reading #am writing #Thoughts - Post Office

Meander 1 - Reading - Lately I've been reading Mary Jo Putney's Lost Lords series. Really it's re-reading. I'll soon finish this series and am enjoying reading them again. Soon there will be some new books to read. Reading helps when I'm writing. Thankfully the new ones are historicals so that helps since I'm writing contemporary. The history ones gives me a break from the fantasy world of today since I'm avoiding writing the plague into these stories. Perhaps one day I will do that but for me reading is escape from the problems of today as is writing.

Meander 2 - Thoughts - Post Office - The US Post office used to be efficents and mail arrived on time and in good order. Then a new man was places in charge and he worked hard to undo the good. I sent packages to my family in Florida on the 11th of December. I was told this was soon enough for a Christmas delivery. I didn't send them first class since the shipping fees would have been way over a hundred dollars - well over. The packages arrived on Thursday the 31th of December, Way too long and only after I had a real screaming fit with the postal service. Funny how yelling and screaming sent the packages from Newark to West Palm beach in less than two hours. Hopefully that man hired by the other man to run the postal service will be gone soon. I feel sorry for people who didn't recieve their medications on time.

Meander 3 - Writing - Slowly getting back into Haunted Dreams. Unfortunately the writing got very far ahead of the typing si I'm running rathere behind. This will pick up soon and I'll see the book to the end in a few months. then it's the next book in the Moon Rising series and a few ideas are starting to form. The book will be a bit different from the last one but once again there will be a large cast of characters. Probably three villians as well as three heroes, and heroines. Then hopefully an unexpected book will come into being.and it will be back to my regular schedule for 2022.

Meandering on Monday with Janet Lane Walters #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Reading #Writing #Thoughts - the plague strikes

Meander 1 - Reading - I've been reading Mary Jo Putney's Regency Lost Lord's stories and am enjoying them a lot. I am rereading these books while I'm waiting for new books to capture my interest. I read every day and often reread books I enjoy.

Meander 2 = Thoughts - The Plague Strikes - While there are some people who don't think of this Covid bit as a plague, I know it is. The latest victim is our rpesident and his wife. If this continues, everyone in power in the country will be infected since there are reports of senators, other peopleof interest to become infected. The really simple solution is to wear masks and wash hands. I'm glad I live in an area where 9.5 percent of the people wear masks but there are areas in this county where there are growing clusters of this disease. When will people come to their senses? Perhaps not until there are few left.

Meander 3 - Writing.- Am approaching the end of a draft of Nilos and soon will be on the final rundown and that means careful attention to make sure I have left no loose ends. Have all the facts needed in place and the typos corrected.

Meandering on Monday with Janet Lane Walters

Last week was a good one. On Thursday was off to the New Jersey Romance Writer's Conference. Best thing was finishing a draft of current WIP before I left so I headed to the conference with nothing wanting to drag me back. For me a conference is about the people I meet and the good information I receive. I'll talk about some of the people.

Heather Graham a great writer, but more than that a great person. She's warm, funny and belives in hekping people. Her husband was a quiet, thoughtful man. Had dinner with them along with chapter members and the lovely Jade. Though I met other writers of quality I had less interaction with them. Talked to Mary Jo Putney a bit and forgot to tell her that I loved her paranormal romances and wished there had been more. Of course recommended her Rake to everyone. When a saw Sabrina Jeffries was to be a speaker, I told a friend I'd never read any of her books. Learned that was a lie since I'd read and loved her books written under another name. Didn't have a chance to talk to Susan Wiggs until the conference ended. She's a quiet lovely person and a good writer whose works I've enjoyed for years. As a writer, I'm also a reader and I brought home a few books to read.

Working the arrivals desk was fun. I met several beginning writers and tried to encourage them with the "Finish the book" words I always say. Met Alice Orr, once my agent but that didn't work out since we were two alpha females. Not a good mix for a business relationship but I did enjoy seeing her again and will let Jane know. The PAN retreat was fun and a good way to learn from others. Bob Mayer (probably mispelled his name and can't check since my program for the conference is still somewhere in the hotel.

Last news is that I sold 9 books at the signing and this was a real thrill. What I learned about these signings is that one must interact with the people passing by and it's really surprising when one of them buy your books.

Meandered enough. There are more things I could talk about but fun time is over and it's back to work on Lines of Fire and The World Has Come Of Age and maybe come up with a new title for that.
