2019 Book Hooks

Excerpt:
What had his cousin done to make his aunt cry? There had been several calls from her over the years when Randy had been in trouble. “Tell me.”
“He was killed in an automobile accident last night.”
Simon wished he was close enough to offer her comfort. She'd always been strong and Randy had been her most troubled child. “When?”
“Around midnight.”
“Where?”
“He and his fiancé were on their way from dinner at the Club.”
Simon felt like he’d been kicked by a mule. A memory of the winding road from the building high on the hill outside Fern Lake flashed into view.
“Fiancée? What do you mean?”
Though he and his aunt had talked on Christmas Day, his cousin hadn’t been mentioned. Had he missed something? About three years ago, Randy had married Simon’s high school sweetheart. “I thought he was married.”
May cleared her throat. “He and Dana divorced seven months ago.” She sighed. “Their parting shouldn’t still upset me since he didn’t treat her nicely.”
Simon sucked in a breath. A dozen memories from the days when he’d lived at the Grantlan mansion crowded his thoughts. He shoved them away. Anything that happened back then would stay there. Moving forward was his style.
“Did he abuse her?” He couldn’t contain the question.
“Not in a physical way.” She paused. “His drinking and womanizing were painful for her. She received little support when she tried to get him to seek help. Robert didn’t approve of the marriage. Neither did Patricia.”
“What do you want me to do?”
“Come for the viewing and stay for the funeral. There are things we need to discuss.”
Simon’s gut clenched. The small scars on his back itched. Randy was dead. Didn’t change any of Simon’s feelings toward most of the Grantlan family. He cared for Aunt May. His mother’s sister had welcomed him even though she hadn’t spoken to his parents since they’d eloped. She’d insisted her husband give him a home.
He drew a deep breath. What new bomb would blow up his life? He’d resigned from a job he’d liked because he’d refused to obey Paley’s orders. Years ago he’d taken off because Dana had denied him what he’d wanted. He’d been an asshole that day. He groaned. Every time he reached a turning point he walked away. Move forward and don’t look back, he’d told himself. Would returning to Fern Lake be a mistake?
“Simon, are you there?”
“Yes.”
“Will you come?”
He swallowed against the huge lump forming in his throat. He’d lived in the Grantlan mansion for eight miserable years. No day had passed without being told he wasn’t worthy of being part of the family. Only the huge fortune his aunt had inherited from her family had made her suited to become a Grantlan.
“I’m not sure I can take the time off.” His face burned but he couldn’t tell her he didn’t care about Randy. In fact he felt glad.
“I’m sure they’ll give you the days for a family funeral.”
Since there was no one to grant him leave, she was right. His own reluctance to retrace his tracks held him back.
“Simon, please. I’m afraid trouble is brewing.”
“What kind?”

“Patricia is out of control. She’s making wild accusations and spouting conspiracy theories. Said Dana sabotaged Randy’s car or Melanie grabbed the wheel. You know how close she and Randy were.”

Saturday's Blurbs featuring Books by Janet Lane Walters #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Romance #Contemporary

Tangled Dreams (Moon Child Book 7)

Two reasons bring Cancer heroine Janine Rhodes to Fern Lake. The first is the Masters and Doctors program at the nearby university. The second is a letter from a dying woman. While here, she is able to observe the son she gave up for adoption eight years ago and his attorney father. She is content just to watch until tragedy strikes.

When Virgo Nate Quinn learns about his son’s medical condition, he can barely hold on. Just a year ago, he lost his wife to cancer. His adopted son has become his entire family. When the doctor asks him about the child’s birth parents, he has no idea. He agreed to the adoption but only signed papers and took no other part in the process. Now he needs to locate two people.

Then he learns the identity of his son’s birth mother and knows she has been in the periphery of life. He acts rashly and then must find a way to make amends, especially when he learns more about her.

First Line: Janine Rhodes lifted her giggling charge into her arms and strode toward the cabin.

Review:
Tangled Dreams is the perfect title for this book. Ms. Walters’ characters, Janine Rhodes, Nate Quinn, and Davey, …and even Pam, came to life and kept me glued to the pages. There’s a tangle of emotional turmoil, heated moments of fear, passion, and anger, which comes around full circle, leading to a satisfying end. I’m still smiling over the impossible becoming possible. Bravo, Ms. Walters! Highly recommended if you enjoy life-changing romances with HEA endings;)

Friday - Janet Lane Walters is visiting and talking about her latest release #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Tangled Dreams #Romance

1. Tell me about your latest release? Genre?
My latest release is Tangled Dreams the sixth book in the Moon Child series. This time the heroine is a Cancer and the hero a Virgo. Their relationship is tangled by secrets and a sick child.

2. Where did the idea arise?
I really enjoy exploring Astrology and years ago, I began the series, writing the books as the ideas gelled. Since Virgo was the next hero on the block, I spend a great deal of time planning and recalling all the Virgos I've met in my life. The Cancer part was easy since I'm one in spades.

3. How much research was involved? Did you stay on point or be distracted by wanting to look at just one more thing?
The research was rather extensive, especially regarding childhood leukemia and also memories of the days when I was a nurse with cases of this type. I managed to hone in on what I needed to know and hopefully fed it into the story without lecturing.

4. How long did you take to write the book?
This book, a short one took almost six months to write. The death of myhusbandof fifty plus eyars and this Covid 19 stuff kept me back. But I persisted

5. Now a bit about you. How long have you been writing? What is your Sun Sign?
I've been writing for ages but published for 50 one or two I'm a Cancer with six planets in that sign.

6. Do you write in a number of genres of stick to one?
I kind of hop around genres sticking mainly to some form of romance but I've written non-fiction and poetry as well. I have some mysteries as well as fantasies, paranormal, contemporary and a bit of historical thrown in. I don't write action thrillers or horror. I'll read and enjoy the former and won't touch the latter.

7. Where on the internet can you be found?

2019 Book Hooks

Excerpt:

She dropped the charts in her office and walked to the reception area. “Has the last patient arrived?”

“He’s changing. I’ll do the prelim.” Emma grinned. “He’s hot. Big guy with well defined muscles. Blue eyes surrounded by dark lashes. Lord, I’d love to have them. Oh, a killer smile.”
Manon laughed. “Have plans for him?”
Emma turned away. “I can only look and dream. He says he’s taken.”
“Maybe the next one will be yours.”
Emma hurried down the hall. Manon studied the next day’s schedule and discovered she’d be involved in a marathon of patient visits.
She rested her elbow on the desk. She had to do something about Tom. His weekly visits for vague complaints had to stop. Several times she’d referred him to specialists. The lack of calls from these doctors meant he hadn’t made any of the calls. Why didn’t he hear her message? She had no intention of dating him again. His awkward attempt at seduction when they’d been in high school had made her vow never again. She hadn’t changed her mind.
A painful memory surfaced. Her hands fisted.
Not going there either. Not today. Not ever.
Emma paused at the desk. “New patient is set.” She dropped a thick packet on the desk. “Copy of his medical record.”
Manon stared at the manila folder. With a health history with that many pages, she wondered why the hospital had hired him. She rose.
“Anything I should know?” Emma asked.
“There is. Once I document Mr. Sands’ last visit, make a copy of his records for him. If he calls for an appointment remind him he’s no longer my patient. I’m not willing to commit insurance fraud or have him continue to take time when I could see someone who needs me.”
“About time,” Emma said. “What if he persists?”
“I’ll ask for a restraining order and mention the office visits and my fears of being involved in fraud.”
Emma laughed. “Good for you. Bet that stops him.” She leaned against the wall. “Do you mind if I head out? If I rush, I can have dinner before class.”
“Go ahead. “Which class?”
“Statistics. Love that class.”
“You’re crazy.”
Emma slung her bag over her shoulder. “See you.”
Manon watched her friend hurry away. At the door, Emma waved and grinned.
Why the sly smile? Manon walked to the examining room and pulled a folder from the holder. She glanced inside. No name. Emma had been in a hurry.
As she opened the door, the scent of an aftershave sent her hurtling toward the past. For the second time that afternoon, memories of the boy she’d loved surfaced. She drew a deep breath.
Get a grip.
Without a glance at the waiting patient, she strode to the counter. The aroma strengthened. Hadn’t been her imagination. She turned her head and stared at the man wearing the green cotton examining gown. She gripped the edge of the counter. Blood rushed from her head.
“You’re dead.” The words slashed the silence. This couldn’t be happening.
“Hardly.”
The voice sounded like the one from her dreams. She opened her mouth to ask where he’d been and what he’d been doing for the past twelve years. She sucked in a shallow breath. Asking that question would only stir the emotions she had frozen.
“Don’t bail on me. Sit down.”
Her fingers had no feeling. Waves of darkness dimmed her vision. The edge of the counter disappeared. Her knees buckled. Blackness engulfed her.

Thursday's Fifth Scene from Tangled Dreams #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #romance #contemporary

On an impulse, before heading to Pediatrics, she stopped in the gift shop. On a table she saw a selection of books for children. One titled Escape Affinities Book interested her. She read a bit and wondered if the reading level was right for an eight year old.  Would Davey like the story? Hints of magical powers fascinated her. The book was part of a series. She purchased the volume and wrote a note inside.
With the book in hand, she rode the elevator to the fourth floor and stopped at the nurses’ station. One of the women waved. “We’ve a new admission. Davey Quinn, room 401. He might be perfect for your study. I can give you his father’s contact information. Mr. Quinn should be here soon.” She paused. “Man was a wreck. He filled out papers and left in a rush.”
“I’ll wait, I guess.” Janine said. No sense asking for details. Because of the HIPPA regulations, the nurse couldn’t say much. Janine turned away. What now?
When the nurses became busy, she walked down the hall and stopped at the room. She glanced inside. Davey sat against the pillows staring at the television. She tapped on the door. “Are you Davey Quinn?”
“Yes.” He met her gaze.
Janine swallowed. His eyes were the same shade of blue as hers. His blond hair was a shade darker. A vise gripped her heart. All she could do was stare.
“You okay?” he asked.
She smiled. “Do you mind if I visit for a few minutes?” She didn’t want to leave. If his father’s arrived while she was here, so be it.
“Sure.” He flicked off the television. “Boring here.”
“I brought a book you might enjoy.”
He grinned. “I like to read. I’m in the advanced class at school.” He took the book. “Wow, it’s big.”

Thursday's Fourth Scene Rekindled Dreams Janet Lane Walters #MFRWauthor #Books We Love #Romance #Police #Hospital Billing

Dana halted in the door way of the funeral home’s largest viewing room and fought an urge to leave. She’d thought arriving at dinner time would find just a few people. She faced a mob scene. Before she could retreat the crowd moved and she stepped forward. Had half the town decided to turn this into a social hour? From the bits of conversation she heard she didn’t think sympathy was on people’s tongues.
Stay or leave? The debate continued as she was pushed forward. She nearly bucked the flow when her former sister-in-law grasped her arm and pulled her to the side.
“You have a lot of nerve showing your face here, especially after what you did,” Patricia said.      “You’re not part of the family. You might have married him but you weren’t his friend.”
“He was my former husband and I tried to make the marriage work.”
“Just don’t push what you’re carrying and try to get more money than you already have.” Patricia poked Dana’s belly with her French-tipped nails. “Unless you want to give him into my custody.”
“Him?” Dana searched for an escape. “There’s a better than even chance the baby’s a girl since more girls are born than boys. And you know we divorced because Randy didn’t want children.”
“Of inferior stock.” Patricia glared. “You refused his demands and ended in the cold. Or was this a ploy for money. Really dumb of you.”
Dana straightened her shoulders. “Or smart. During the two years we were married Randy was seeing other women. He was an alley cat.”
“Don’t go spreading lies like that around.” Patricia’s hands fisted. “We’re from the richest and best family in town. My father owns most of the place. Keep your mouth shut or you’ll be sorry.”
No sorrier than she was now. Dana drew a deep breath. Her desire for a family had kept her in a marriage that couldn’t survive. Also her decision never to return to work as a nurse had added to her inability to walk away.
Gooseflesh covered Dana’s arms. She tensed as if expecting a knife in the back. The odor of alcohol on Patricia’s breath was one Dana recognized from living with Randy.
Dana collided with someone who caught and steadied her. “Sorry. Just be careful around Patricia,”
Rob whispered. “She’s still furious about Randy’s marriage to you and about his latest engagement. She and Randy were close. She believes what was his must be hers.”
     Dana turned. “She won’t win.”
“But she will make trouble.” Rob leaned closer. “Have you considered returning to the nursing home after the baby’s born? We need nurses.”
Dana shook her head. “I’ve begun a business I believe will grow.”
     “Good luck.” He walked away.
Dana’s forehead wrinkled. How dangerous was Patricia? For a moment she wanted to leave town. Not yet. Once the billing service had enough clients she could leave Fern Lane and work anywhere with internet service.
Another thought occurred. Did Patricia understand the terms of the divorce settlement? Both Randy and his father had been adamant. Randy had given up any claim to the coming child boy or girl.
She drew a deep breath that aggravated the pain in her back. She spotted May and walked toward the older woman.
May hugged Dana. “You didn’t have to come. How are you feeling? You look exhausted.”
“Ready to have this child.” She studied her former mother-in-law. “Are you all right?”
     “I’m fine.”
     “I’m sure you’re grieving.”
May exhaled a deep breath. “No mother should lose a child but when a child refuses to listen all is lost. Randy, well, he should have gone for help.”
Dana pressed the older woman’s hand. “Don’t blame yourself.”
“I don’t but how I wish things had been different.”
“You have my sympathy and my thanks for the beautiful clothes and the cradle you sent for the baby.”
“Your child will be my grandchild no matter what Robert says. Let me know if you need anything.”
     “Thank you.” Dana stepped away.
May touched Dana’s arm. “Simon’s here.”
Dana’s stomach lurched. Did she need to see him now? She had to leave. She couldn’t talk to Simon. She had loved him. After he left she had waited but he’d never returned. Then two years ago, she had married Randy. No matter how much Simon had disliked his cousin, his anger toward her would be a thousand times hotter.
What about her own anger? That night, Simon had demanded what she hadn’t been ready to give. He had left and she’d waited. Her anger had deepened. Finally she’d given up.
Praying for a quick and successful escape she tried to weave between the clusters of people. Instead of forward she was pushed back toward the coffin. She stared at her ex-husband and saw something she had forgotten. Though Randy’s coloring was dark, facially he resembled Simon. She felt ill when she considered the meaning. Why hadn’t she noticed before?
Her abdomen cramped. She drew a deep breath. Had labor begun? Of all the wrong times. She had to go home for the suitcase and the infant seat, call Madge, the doctor and a cab. With determination she threaded her way to the door.

Thursday's Fourth Scene Melodic Dreams Janet Lane Walters #MFRWAuthor #BWLPublishing #Romance #Occupational Therapy # Music

The moment he heard the car taking Maria and the boy away, Jay dialed the detective agency he’d used to trace Delores. Four years ago, he’d wanted her location so she could be served with divorce papers, nothing more. But now, questions abounded.
A woman answered. “Black and Black Investigations, how can we help you?”
“Amos Black, please.”
“I’ll see if he’s free. Who should I say is calling?”
“Jay Lockley. I need his services again.”
“One moment.” A short time later, the rasping voice he remembered reverberated in his ear. “Mr. Lockley, what can I do for you?”
Jay explained the arrival of Maria and the boy. “She brought documents that look legit but I wonder if they’re forgeries.”
“A child you say. One who appears to be the right age?”
“Yes.”
“Let me pull your file on screen.”
Jay tapped his fingers on the table. Could the answer be easily found? Had the detective failed to give him everything he’d discovered?
“Mr. Lockley, I’ve reviewed your former request. All you wanted was for me to locate your estranged wife. I did and sent confirmation of her death.”
“I had no idea there was the possibility of a child,” Jay said. “These are the papers I was given.” He listed them. “I’ll fax copies. And I’d like to know why the child was missed.”
“Who gave them to you?”
“Maria Russo claims to be Delores’ sister and guardian of the child she claims is my son. I need to know the truth. If he’s mine I’ll claim him in court if necessary.”
“You could ask for a DNA test?”
“I could but I want to know more about the Russo family.” He gripped the receiver. He was ninety-nine percent sure the boy was his. Dealing with a woman who looked like Delores raised suspicions. He wanted to know if Maria was as greedy and as self-serving as his dead wife had been.
Emotions triggered by memories of the days of feeling like a naïve fool swamped him. Added to those feelings the attraction toward Maria churned his thoughts as though they were whirled in a blender.
“Just what do you want me to do?” Amos asked.
Since he knew the man would do no more or less that he asked Jay began. “Check the validity of the papers I’ll fax. Investigate Maria and Carlo Russo.”
“Looks like I’m taking a road trip,” Amos said. “This will cost.”
“How much?”
For a moment there was silence. “Say five grand. I’ll need to fly and rent a car.”
“I’ll wire the money. I need the truth so I can act.” Excitement bubbled in his thoughts. “This time I expect a detailed report of everything you learn. Call me when you arrive.”
“Will do.”
Jay disconnected and carried the folder and papers to the studio where he faxed the documents. He booted the computer and wired the money. As he slipped the papers into the folder he found several pages of music. He stared. He’d been working on these melodies just before Delores left.
Why had she taken them? Then he saw his name had been crossed out and hers written above. Had she planned to pass them off as hers?
As he studied the notes, he laughed. The melodies, one bright and the other dark, had fluidity and power. He propped the sheets on the piano rack. One by one he played them. During a second pass, he jotted notes where revision was needed. He gripped the uncompleted movie score. Yes. These melodies would fit the score. He worked to the point where the harmony needed to be added. In his head, he heard an orchestra.
When exhaustion forced him to halt, he groaned. He could hear the ending and wanted to push ahead. His fingers cramped. His hands curled. Waves of pain tore his concentration to shreds. He rubbed one hand over the other. What if they remained frozen into claws?
Slowly, the throbbing eased. He sank on a chair and closed his eyes. Maria. Her face appeared and he saw warmth in her dark honey eyes. He must thank her for returning the music.
Warmth flowed over his skin. She was so like and unlike the haunted memories of Delores. In Maria’s eyes, he’d seen none of the calculation that had filled his dead wife’s. What he’d seen from Maria had been love for the child and anger toward him.
His hands spasmed. Why this attraction for a woman he had no reason to trust?
His thoughts flitted to the boy. Those green eyes, exactly the shade as his had raised hopes he couldn’t accept. Until he knew the child wasn’t part of a scheme for sticky fingers to plunder his purse he must remain detached.
One thing worried him. How could a woman who looked like Delores’ twin turn discord into harmony?
His thoughts drifted to the days of his first success. A Broadway musical with songs sweeping through the city and the country. He’d been feted and followed by cameras and fans. One night the producer had taken him to s small club where Delores had sung. The words and melody of one of his ballads had flowed on her silky voice. Her smoldering glances and her lush body had enchanted him.
He’d been naïve. A rich boy with a famous father and a mother more interested in charities than children. He’d been ripe for seduction and hungry for love. He’d fallen fast and hard, taken her to his apartment for a night filled with sex. She’d stayed. He’d written songs for her with melodies showcasing her silky voice. Their affair had erupted like earth birthing a new volcano. A month after that first meeting, they had married.
She hadn’t given up her obsession with stardom. Not long after the wedding she had asked him to get together with the lyricist and write a musical for her. He’d tried but his muse had vanished.
Pregnancy should have put her desire on hold. For days she had screamed and blamed him for carelessness. Two months later she’d left to go home and have an abortion. She’d taken every cent from their joint accounts.
What a fool he’d been.
Jay’s hands clenched. Those days were gone. He’d found music again. He couldn’t allow Maria or anyone to drive him into that dark place where cacophony ruled.
The clock chimed eight times. He left the studio and headed to the kitchen to heat one of the meals Mrs. Greene left for him. Before he’d eaten two bites of the chicken pot pie, the doorbell rang.
“What now?” he muttered.
“Jay, where are you?”
He groaned and knew she wouldn’t leave. Even if he’d been in the studio, Manon would invade. “Kitchen.”
Manon strode into the room with Rafe two steps behind. “Are you back to earth?” she asked.
He shrugged. “For long enough to eat.” He wasn’t about to tell her about his stroll through memories. “I’m alive. I’m eating. You can go home.”
Rafe opened the refrigerator and took out a beer. He gestured to Jay. Jay shook his head. As soon as they left, he intended to return to the studio.
Rafe raised the beer. “She’s going to grill you about out dinner companions. A beautiful woman and a delightful boy.”
Jay’s suspicions escalated. How had Maria learned about his sister’s Monday visits to Louie’s? How long had Maria been in town?
Manon filled a glass with water. “How can you deny Jamie’s your son? What are you going to do about him?”
Jay dropped his fork on the table. “What did she tell you? How did she choose the same restaurant?” Though he asked, he knew the answer. Disappointment made him groan. Maria and the boy had been in Fern Lake long enough to learn all she could about him and his family. She was no different from Delores.
Manon’s green eyes frosted. “She lives in the apartment complex. Louie’s is a short walk for a small boy.” She glared. “He’s as greedy for black olives as you are. No way can you deny he’s your son.”
Jay lifted his fork. “I can’t be sure. You only met Delores once. She knew every trick and I bought them all. Maria is her sister. I need to know if this is a scam.”
Rafe nodded. “Sensible. I liked her though and she will be working at the hospital. I’m sure she was vetted.”
“I need proof of her reason for arriving in Fern Lake.”
Rafe raised his beer. “How do you plan to learn?”
“I hired a detective, the same one who brought the news of Delores’ death. Maria said the boy was delivered at the hospital.”
“Possible,” Manon said. “She does need help.”
“I offered to pay for his pre-school.”
Manon set her glass on the table. “I’m glad. Don’t lose your chance to know Jamie by being stubborn.”
Jay shrugged. “I’ll wait until I’m sure.” Maria’s smile flashed in his thoughts. His hands fisted. No way would she trick him the way her sister had.

EXCERPT:

As they wheeled his sister away Rob strode to the waiting room door. What had Patricia meant by her words? Had someone hurt her? Was she in danger? Who should he care for?
He stopped at the admissions’ desk. “I’m here about the woman who just arrived by ambulance.”
The clerk looked up. “Dr. Grantlan, do you know her? The EMTs had no idea. They found no identification, but they left two suitcases I was about to open.”
“Her name is Patricia Grantlan.” At her startled gasp he continued. “She’s my sister, but I have no idea if she has insurance. I’ll handle the bills.”
She passed a clipboard holding several forms to him. “Fill these out as best as you can.”
Rob retreated to a seat at the rear of the room. He added as much information as he could. After returning the forms the clerk gave him the suitcases. He returned to his seat on one of the plastic chairs facing a television tuned to a cooking show.
A young woman with light brown hair entered. A diaper bag hung from her shoulder. She must be the baby’s mother. Relief rolled like a stream released from a beaver’s dam. Patricia hadn’t caused a fatality. The young woman stopped at the desk.
Who was she? Though curious, knowing wouldn’t halt the thoughts galloping through his head. Something about the way she stood with one hand on her hip drew him and made him think he knew her. Her shorts revealed long tanned legs. Would her face match the rear view?
He groaned. She reminded him of Andi Sherman. Why think of her now? He’d ruined any chance of a future with her. Twelve years ago, he’d followed his father’s demands and told her he didn’t love her. Once more the words spoken in a steel-coated voice slid into his thoughts.
You want to go to college and become a doctor. Though that’s not my choice for you, I’ll accept your decision. Your brother will have the place I reserved for you. Do you want college?
Yes.”
Ditch Andi Sherman. She’s poor white trash. Members of her family are known criminals. Unless you tell her what she is, forget your plans. Forget any inheritance. Your brother will be near your trysting place and will report to me.
He’d followed his father’s orders. Rob still remembered that evening and the tears in her eyes. He swallowed memories of his failure to face his bullying father.
The young woman turned. She studied the rows of waiting people. Her face blanched.
His felt on fire. Andi Sherman was back in town. Why? She had no family in Fern Lake. His hands clenched. Her beauty stunned him. He wanted to go to her, but that would be the wrong move. She walked toward him. Her braced shoulders and stiff spine showed this wasn’t her choice.
“I’m sorry.” His voice sounded hollow.
“No reason. What happened in the past should remain there.” The coldness in her voice chilled him.
“That’s not what I meant.”
She shrugged. “The woman at the desk told me the driver of the wrecked car I came upon was your sister.”
“She was.” He drew a deep breath and caught a faint aroma of lilacs. “Is your baby all right?”
Her laughter held a strange note. “The child wasn’t mine.” She dropped the diaper bag on his lap. “The infant was in the car your sister drove. I took the little girl to my car and grabbed this. Forgot to give it to the EMTs. Looks like the baby is your responsibility.”

Rob swallowed. She was right, but he was uneasy with the news. What did he know about children? “What are you doing in Fern Lake?”
