A new year by Janet Lane Walters

 

A new year and I plan to be more involved with this blog and write a little something each day.

This year, i plan to finish my current WIP Voice From Her Past, a medical romance. Not a nurse doctor but a doctor,- doctor pairing. A past broken romance influences the current time in the story. The hero, a pediatric surgeon, has two children - a daughter who lives with her and a son who is the heroine's child.

It's been five years since they saw each other  and he doesn't know about his son until now. 

The story is slowly progressing but since it's due to be published in June, I need to move a bit faster and I will.

Meander 1 - Poem -Ask A Nurse  -

Nurse. Nurse?  Nurse! Nurse,
The cries come from all around.
Buzzers sound and patients shout.
Ask a nurse, now.
She will know all.
What time is my surgery?
Can I have a pain pill?
Bed pan, please.
I'm going to be sick.
Please hold my hand.
I'm scared.
Please stay with me.
When is Mommy coming?
How's my baby in the second incubator?
Do you think he'll make it?
Why can't I have breakfast?
Can I get out of bed?
But mostly I'm afraid.
Will it hurt?
Nurse, why me?
Nurse, Nurse?  Nurse!

Meander 2 - New Year - Tomorrow is the start of a new year. I don't think there will be much change in my life. But that's all right. I'll still be writing and taking care of my husband.  Though this does cut into my writing time, I'll be pushing to achieve more. The passing year has been filled with many things and some of them not too pleasant. Like the state of the world and the country. Hoping next year will see some positive things come to pass. One can only hope.

Meander 3 _ Writing - I'm now into push mode on my book plus trying to write two CAFs for two other books I would like to put out this year. Going interestingly at this point so we will see.

 Meander 1 - Poem - Lava Crabs 3

Across the blackened rock they tread.
Walking on tip-toe across the lava bed.
The black and porous rock once flowed
Where they now make their home.
Hidden in the molten cracks, they come
With timid braveness.
And when the tide surges on their homes
They cling and refuse to be torn
From the shore which is now their home.

Meander 2 - New Year - This is a new year and when the date changes I always wonder what will follow during the days to come. I hope for more stories to flow from these keys but I make no promise as to the number. I want for my friends to find success in their endeavors. I want my children and grandchildren to have good days. I'd really like to see a world at peace and a country now torn to heal. Who knows what the new year will bring.

Meander 3 - Writing and typing. The book I'd hoped to finish my mid month will take longer but I won't let it go until I feel it's ready. I will keep revising, rewriting and typing until I'm satisfied. Soon all the books back from one publisher will be with the new one. That's good. Then I have several projects. One I want to run past my publisher and the other is one I'm working on for myself. Time will tell.
