7 November - Contest, Peeve. Week behind and week ahead

December is the month for giving. During the month I'll be giving away print copies of the 27 books I have available in print. Most of them are also available electronically. For those who are interested, they can go back and look through the blog to see the possibilty. I will start the draw on the first of December and continue until the 27th day of the month. One book a day. If there are any that particularly interest you, a mention of it in the blog post will help. Also I will need a way to get in touch with you so some clue as to your email addy will help. The followers of my blog may be the ones first chosen since it's nice to give gifts to friends even though they're not meant. One of these Mondays I'll list all the book titles. Though I wish I could send them all over the world I'll limit the ones sent to the United States and Canada as often sending books to other countries costs more in postage than the book sells for. Wish life were different. So to qualify, either become a member of this blog or leave a note on one of the posts saying you'd like a chance to have one of the books as a gift and leave a clue as to how I can reach you. I'll collect the names and then begin drawing on December 1st.

Peeve 4 - Maybe not really a peeve, but just an observation. Since 1998 I've been electronically published. When I began this adventure the negative remarks I received from fellow writers were hurtful but I knew I was doing the right thing for myself as an author. Some of my books are a bit outside the traditional genre guidelines. But I went with the flow and made some money, not a lot but money wasn't the reason I write. I write because I must. Now with the advent of the electronic readers now electronic publishing has become the thing. Guess back those many years ago, my choice was right for me.

Week behind - am now 51% done with The Chosen of Horu. Have half the chapters to make right. One of my problems is making sure the setting gets in there. I tend to leave this out when I'm doing the flow of the story and running my characters through the plot.

This week coming I intend to have another part of the story headed in the right direction.

17 October - Week behind and week ahead

Before the summary of the past week and the future week, comes the pet peeve. I belong to a number of groups and I receive them as digests. Why? To cut down on the number of emails I have to open and read. Being able to scribe down to the ones I want to read cuts down. Some groups have rules that state DO NOT COPY THE ENTIRE MESSAGE. A lot of people ignore this so when finding two messages in a row that I'm interested in reading and perhaps responding, I come to inches and inches of repeated material. Usually I just give up, get out of that digest. Why is something that's so easy to do hard for so many people? Pulling a short bit from the subject or even just having the subject in the line makes things easy to follow. If I want more information I can always go back and read the past posts.
Now for the weeks in review.

Last week I reached the 37% mark on The Chosen of Horu. All the plot points are falling into place and hopefully this week I'll finish getting those straight. This week that'swhat I'll be working on and on doing more promotion elsewhere. Trying to figure how to do this fairly. With so many books out it's hard. Thought I'd start with the publisher with the least books and go onto that. Am also gearing up for the Christmas contest for those who are members of my blog. All of December I'll be giving away a print copy of one of my books. I have nearly enough to last for the entire month. That's a good thing. That means a list. Do love lists.

4th July Week Ahead and Week behind

First two things one coming in the future. On July 17th I'll be giving away 17 print books that I've written. They will be given to those who are followers of this blog. Though I would love to give a book for every year I've been around I don't have enough titles. Also some of my books aren't in print yet.

Second, I've been wondering what triggers me to buy a book for my Kindle. There are two ways to interest me. The first and most important are those blurbs that give a hint of what the story will be. The second is when I can read a chapter, not just an excerpt that shows how sexy, mysterious or other thing but a full chapter that makes me want to read more of the book. Sort of like the editor who receives a manuscript and who keeps turning the pages. So what impels you to buy a book?

3000 words left to complete A Sudden Seduction. Hopefully I will finish this week. The last words are always the hardest since they usually involve scenes not fully realized or endings that need to be tweaked. I'm glad since the characters for the next book are knocking on the door and wishing to be allowed inside and to drive my imagination in a different direction. The coming story will be an exploration of the alternate Egypt I began with The Warrior of Bast. The heroine of this story traveled for a time with those of the first story and the hero had a bit part in the Warrior story. A very bit part and all is not what it seems. That's one of the beauties of fiction.

I feel good about last week's work and did several good scenes and discovered things I hadn't known when I started the story. Secrets were revealed. Love when that happens.

27 June -- Week behind and week ahead

Another week has passed and though I was away for the middle days, I managed to finish a good deal of A Sudden Seduction. Only have three chapters to finish up so give or take two weeks and that will be done. Then it's on to a new project one I hope will be as successful as the one in that series was. Received a wonderful review from RT for The Warrior of Bast. Made my day.

I'm gearing up for a contest to start in July for those who are my followers. I'll be giving away print copies of most of my books. There are some that aren't out in print yet but will be by Christmas. I'll add those to the Christmas contest.

Waiting to hear about The Henge Betrayed Quests and The Moon Pool. Both are due to be released soon. That will be all until I finish writing things otherthan those that are just electronic that will be coming in print. But it's a good year so far.
