While the Escape plot has some things in common with the Rescue and Pursuit ones, there is a major difference. The protagonist is the person who is a prisoner and their desire to escape. They will do what they must to see this happen. The hero or heroine is held captive against their will and they are determined to escape. This can also be a battle of wills of two strong people. There is no way out except escape.
