Tuesday's Writer's Tips - Revision and Sub plots #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #Subplots #Writing

Novels often have subplots. and when to show them in the story is something that takes a little time. They can be important to the characters growth. In the story I'm currentlywriting, there are subplots that impinge on the greater plot. One is the three sisters search for each other. This sub plot will be ended long before the book. The same for a second book that involves anger and resentment for one of the male characters to another. This will also be solved before the story ends.

With good handling subplots add to the story. They can mirror or contrat with the main plot. They can be used to give suspense by stepping away from the main plot. These should be fed into your story soon after the opening scene. In my story, the first female character is told to find her sisters. She is also told she and her sisters will bring change to the land. The latter is the main plot and the search in the subplot.
