Allie Blakefield is the editor of Good Eatin' magazine. Though she finished the course at the Culinary Intitute, she has never worked in a restaurant. She does love to cook. She hears about a neat restaurant in a village across the river and borrows a friend's apartment, a photographer who is out of town on an assignment. She is blonde, attractive and determined to write a feature on Five Cuisines, the restaurant. Her father doesn't want her to do this but Allie is stubborn.
The hero of the book first sees Allie from his terrace in the river apartment. She leans over the balcony above. When they meet, sparks fly. He is tall, dark haired and dark eyes. He has traveled over Europe after studying to become a chef and is opening a restaurant that was onceowned byhis father.
Other characters in the story include Allie's twin sister, her father, Greg's mother and other minor characters.
Though not a real character, food is a real part of the story and the character's lives
