Using a prologue can be useful but often makes the reader curious to follow the book from that point and they may feel they are missing much that happened between the prologue and the time when the book starts. This is especially true when what happens in the prologue has an impact on one character's life. Sometimes the best advice is to begin at the beginning and to continue until you reach the end.
