Tuesday's Writer's Tip - Mirroring Scenes #BWLAuthor #MFRWAuthor #writing #Scenes #Mirroring

We talked about mirroring ideas and objects last week. This week, it's mirroring scenes. There are a number of ways to do this. We've all read scenes in stories where a scene is repeated several times and something irritates us about the mirroring. One thing is the mirrored scene relains the same as the first scene. These mirrored scenes fail to take notice that something must happen in a scene. They also fail to realize the characters have changed and their reaction to a scehe the second time around will have changed. There are a number of ways to make this mirrored scene seem vital and to provide new information about the story or the characters/

1. Keep the mirror scene exactly the same except for one element. This element will make the scene deeper and richer.

2. Repeat one or more lines of dialogue in the same or nearly the same. Just remember the further ineo the story how much the characters. change.

3. Repeat a brief description of an emotion or an action using the same words as before. Since the character has changed, this will make the emotions or the action seem different.

I'll continue the steps in mirroring the scenes next week.
