Wednesday's Writer's Tip More about the Middle #MFRWauthor #writing
The middle of the book is a time for exploring. What do the characters want? Each and every one may want something different. The writer must discover these goals and look at the steps the character should take to reach that end. He or she also must decide if the goal changes. This may mean some re-writing but the value will help make the story better.
The middle is a time to explore the characters' reasons for wanting a goal The writer may have an idea but in the exploring they may come upon what they thought was a secondary reason doesn't work. The primary reason may take some exploration to dig up.
So think of the middle as the unexplored continent and make sure you map it completely.
